My life is in God's hands

I want to share why I felt that my life was completely in God's hands. You can read more about the job options in In between two options, which one is right?

My life is in God's hands

In April of this year, I left my job after feeling reassured by God that it was time to move on. I didn't have a backup plan or another job lined up. I went from being permanent employer to being unemployed overnight. The only thing I asked God for was two months of rest.

Leaving My Job

I worked at my previous job for 3 years and 7 months. Leaving without knowing what would come next was difficult. Through this experience, God showed me that He is my provider, not my job!

For over a year, I stayed at that job because I viewed it as my source of security. But God reminded me that my job was only a source of provision, while He is the true Provider. That realization changed my perspective completely.

Preparing for New Opportunities

Before applying for new jobs, I spent time preparing for interviews. I created a document with common interview questions and carefully wrote out my answers. It took me nearly one to two weeks to complete.

Using that document, I created another file tailored specifically to the positions I wanted to apply for. I updated my CV, wrote a cover letter, and applied for two jobs.

One application only required my CV (Option 1), while the other required both my CV and cover letter (Option 2).

After submitting my applications, I waited.

When I received an invitation for an interview with Option 1, I went looking for my CV and couldn't find it. Instead, I found old files that had supposedly been deleted from my laptop weeks earlier. Then I discovered that my cover letter was gone as well.

On June 1, I had an important introductory interview for Option 2. As I searched for my interview preparation file, I realized it had disappeared too.

Everything I had worked on was gone.

I panicked.

I told my husband what had happened, and he prayed with me. His prayer helped calm me down.

He reminded me that I needed to trust the Lord and that perhaps this was another opportunity for God to teach me dependence on Him. Even so, I felt challenged. I had already stepped out in faith by leaving my job, and now all of my preparation had vanished without explanation.

It felt like my trust was being tested.

Learning to Trust.

The interview itself went well.

On June 3, I was told that they couldn't see enough motivation in me to do the job. Hearing that immediately reminded me of a prayer I had prayed the day before:

"Lord, if this job is not for me, close the door. I don't want to be the one making the decisions. I want to follow the path You choose for me."

My other interview was still ahead, and I continued to wait on God.

Mixed Feelings

To be honest, I wasn't very excited about the second job opportunity.

After losing all my preparation work, I created a new document and started preparing again. I thought it would be wise to do my part, even while trusting God with the outcome.

The first option was the one I had hoped for the most because it was closer to what I wanted to do. When that door seemed uncertain, I decided to let go of my expectations and focus on simpler things.

I spent time caring for my balcony garden, enjoying my plants, and appreciating the peace that came with slowing down.

As the interview approached, I found myself feeling conflicted.

Part of me wanted the security of having a job. Another part of me wasn't sure I even wanted this particular position anymore.

Years ago, I was very interested in this type of work, but I could no longer remember why. I felt like I had to convince them that I was the person they were looking for while I was still trying to figure out if I wanted the role myself.

I wanted to trust the Lord and accept whatever He had planned, but I didn't know what that plan was.

I also felt tired.

The truth is, I wasn't eager to jump back into a demanding job. My mind felt exhausted, and part of me simply wanted to rest and enjoy a slower season of life.

Waiting on God's Will

The interview ended up going much better than I expected.

I left feeling grateful and at peace with how it went. Whether I receive the job or not is now in God's hands.

Throughout my working life, I have always tried to work hard in the positions God has given me. At this point, there is nothing left for me to do except wait.

The company told me they still had many candidates to interview, so now I wait and trust God with the outcome.

This whole experience has reminded me that faith is often easier when things make sense. Trust becomes real when we are asked to surrender our plans, our expectations, and even our sense of control.

God truly has a way of testing our faith. 😅

For now, I will continue to pray for His will to be done and for the grace to accept whatever answer He gives.

My life is in God's hands

Even if I don't receive either of these jobs, I know I will be okay. God has been faithful before, and I trust that He will continue to guide my steps.

I even prayed that the job God wants for me will choose me, and that the one He doesn't want for me will reject me. That way, I won't have to choose between two opportunities. I can simply walk through the door He opens.

No matter what happens, I trust Him with the plans for my life.

Be blessed, and stay blessed.
