Gazing eyes

You know, I realize that no matter what you do, people will criticize you. The worst group is the gazing eyes at church.

The church

People go to church because they need a savior. There, you find others with similar beliefs and a sense of community.

Gazing eyes

Sometimes we expect judgment from those outside the church, but it can be even stronger from within our own church community.

These are the people who greet you warmly every Saturday, but they also hold you to a high standard because they believe you should know what is expected. This creates unrealistic expectations within the church community, where maintaining appearances can take priority over authenticity.

My realization

I never thought about how people at church actually perceive me. Sometimes, our decisions raise eyebrows, but I’ve realized that no one is perfect. In the end, only you and those directly involved are affected if things don’t go as planned, not the people who just offered opinions.

It hurts when people expect perfection based on their own perceptions, especially knowing everyone is imperfect.

Moral of the story

No one is perfect; we try our best, but we are all sinners. God expects us to turn away from wrong, not to pretend to be perfect for others. Christians deserve grace because they, like non-Christians, struggle with temptations.

When you recognize that only God's opinion truly matters, the judgments of others—including your church—fade in significance. Have you struggled with this too?

Be blessed, and stay blessed!
